Privacy policy

This policy covers our store at shop.trypossum.com, where we take pre-orders of the Possum key. Possum and this store are run by Kevin Lee, 31 Hudson Yards, Floor 11, New York, NY 10001. Our website and email list have their own privacy page at https://trypossum.com/privacy/.

What we collect when you order

  • Your name, email, shipping address (and billing address, if different), and a phone number if you add one.
  • What you ordered and what you paid.
  • A short reference from trypossum.com, saved with your order: the price you saw, one key or two, how you found us (for example, an ad, a post or a friend's link), a random code for your browser and, if you've joined our email list, your list code. It lets us match an order to the ad that brought you.
  • If you join our email list and pre-order in the same visit, the page fills in your email at checkout, so you don't have to type it twice.

We never see or store your full card number.

What Shopify does

Our store runs on Shopify. Shopify processes your order and payment for us, stores your order details and sends our order emails. To run checkout and prevent fraud, Shopify also collects technical details such as your IP address and device. Shopify's privacy policy for shoppers is at https://www.shopify.com/legal/privacy/customers. If you pay with a wallet such as Shop Pay, Apple Pay or PayPal, that company's privacy policy also covers what it keeps.

Cookies

Shopify sets its own cookies on the store and at checkout. Some keep your cart and checkout working, and some are for analytics and marketing. Shopify's cookie policy lists them: https://www.shopify.com/legal/cookies. We haven't added advertising pixels or tracking apps to the store. If we add them for ads, we'll update this policy first.

What we use it for

  • To ship your order and email you about it, including any change to the ship date.
  • To refund your pre-order when you ask, or if the launch is called off or the key doesn't get its FCC authorization.
  • To learn which posts, ads, creators and prices bring orders, so we spend our small budget well.

We won't send you anything unrelated to Possum.

What we don't do

We don't sell or rent your email address or your order details.

Where it's stored, and for how long

Orders, with the name and address on each, are stored by Shopify. We also keep a copy of our orders in our own files, outside Shopify.

The FCC's rules for pre-orders require us to keep a record of each one, including the buyer's name and contact details, for 5 years.

Our email list stays on trypossum.com, stored with Cloudflare, which hosts that site. Shopify may also tell that site about each new order; it keeps only the order number, the reference above and the country the order ships to, so we can count orders by ad.

Your choices

To see, change or delete what we hold about you, email hello@trypossum.com and we'll take care of it. If you pre-ordered, we keep that order's record for the 5 years the FCC requires, and delete the rest.

If this policy changes, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
